Client Services
Individual Therapy
Our therapists specialize in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), psychodynamic therapy, and other evidence-based treatment methods. Treatment plans are individualized and aimed at addressing emotions, behaviors, thoughts, and other factors that impact overall health and well-being. Clients are encouraged to provide ongoing feedback, as our therapists work alongside individuals and families to address varying needs over time. We provide support and treatment for some of the following presenting problems: depression, anxiety, stress/anger management, adjustment difficulties, chronic illness, ADHD, behavioral issues, and school concerns. We also offer parent consultation. Drs. Kinney, Pop, and Herge provide individual therapy. Request an appointment.
Couple Counseling
Therapy assists couples in finding balance and improving their communication. The process can help partners feel more connected by developing their communication skills and identifying patterns that may impact intimacy. Couple counseling often begins after a conflict, where partners may not agree on existing issues. We take the time to explore existing difficulties and work to find common ground and realignment. Dr. Robert Kinney provides therapy for couples. Request an appointment.
Online Therapy (Teletherapy)
We currently offer teletherapy, or online therapy through our secure client portal. Clients interested in teletherapy will undergo a brief screening process to determine fit for themselves, as well as our clinicians. Many clients opting for this service find its ease of use, and ability to better manage time while juggling a busy lifestyle, as significant benefits. This service is available for Texas residents. Call, email or request an appointment.
Group Counseling
Periodically, groups that are aimed at addressing mood, anxiety, relationships, and other concerns are offered. Groups provide opportunities to share and process thoughts, feelings, and experiences, in a setting that is supportive and free of judgement. These groups have a rolling enrollment schedule. For more information, please contact us to schedule a screening call with one of our facilitators. Click here to see our current group options.
Psychological Assessment/testing/Evaluation
Psychological tests are often necessary to identify the presence of learning disabilities, mood disorders, ADHD, and other psychological issues. We have extensive training and experience in several forms of assessment, including achievement, intelligence, psychological, and behavioral testing. The evaluation process is individualized and can include exploration of academic skills, attention, behavioral and emotional functioning. As part of the reporting process, we offer recommendations to improve functioning in a variety of areas. Please click here to request an appointment.
Supervision
Our therapists offer training and supervision to post-doctoral psychologists in training and licensed professional counselor Interns (LPC-Intern).
For Healthcare Providers
Through clinical experience and implementation science for mood disorders, the psychologists at Insight & Change are aware of the demands that physicians, medical personnel, and other healthcare professionals face in daily practice. Simultaneously addressing physiological illnesses and comorbid mental health disorders can become a quite complex and involved process.
When it comes to mental health issues, a significant number of patients and medical professionals prefer to initiate treatment through counseling and psychotherapy. A smaller percentage opt for a combination of therapy and medication treatment, or a medication only approach. Unfortunately, some patients are faced with depression and other mental health concerns that are resistant to medication, resulting in several treatment failures and in many cases, the end of treatment altogether. In addition, even though psychotherapy and medication treatment have been shown to result in equivalent outcomes, and a combination treatment approach is typically recommended in more severe mental health disorders (e.g., severe depression and anxiety), providers often report finding few trusted options for referring patients to psychotherapy and counseling.
Our psychologists are well versed in the areas of counseling and health psychology, practicing evidence-based treatments for depression, anxiety, couple therapy, men’s issues, and the treatment of adolescent disorders. They have extensive experience in the delivery of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and psychodynamic therapy interventions. In addition, they work alongside patients and their providers by consulting and sharing diagnostic impressions along the way (with appropriate release of information).
The practice also offers diagnostic assessment services to clarify issues such as ADHD, bipolar disorder, and neurodevelopmental disorders.
The team strives to work as allies with other healthcare professionals in the treatment of mental health disorders. We are interested in discussing and understanding your clients’ needs, and discovering how our practices can begin to work together under a unified goal of improving patient outcomes.
